The passion for cycling races made him take care of improving his vehicles using the technologies with which he was familiar with working in precision mechanics. In 1895, together with his friend Karl Fichtel, he founded the Schweinfurter Präzisions-Kugellagerwerke Fichtel & Sachs Company, which undertook the mass production of his inventions - among others one of the first freewheel hubs for bicycles. The popularity of high-quality components resulted in the company's dynamic development, but the changing market situation at the end of the 1920s made Ernst Sachs focus on the production of car parts - clutches, shock absorbers and engines.
